David Zarco Vila
8c climber from Spain
MEET DAVID
I am a Spanish and Catalan climber born on the Costa Brava. I started climbing in 2013 with some friends from my village. Pretty soon I bought a VW van, converted it and went climbing every single weekend and holiday all over catalunya and parts of Spain and southern France.
In 2018 I met Pru and together we saved up enough money to buy a bigger van and convert it into our home. We now travel all over Europe and currently we work in the Rodellar campsite in the summer.
When I'm not climbing I'm thinking about when I will go climbing next!
My biggest climbing achievement so far is to have climbed over 250 8th grade routes across many different styles!

5 QUESTIONS FOR DAVID
1. What's your biggest f**k up in your climbing life?
To go and do a multipitch with a friend with only quickdraws on our harnesses and then realise that the route required trad gear. We reached the top doing most of the pitches with only one or two quickdraws as protection!
2. If you could pick anyone from the climbing history or the present climbers, who would you love to go climb with and why?
Anyone that's willing to have a good time and that is psyched to climb!
3. What is your dream line?
Tom et Je Ris (8b+) in the Verdon gorge. It looks amazing!
4. What's your favourite part of being in the Rafiki team?
I don’t really train at all, the best training for me is climbing on rock as much as I can.
5. What about your diet, rest, and compensatory exercise? What has worked well for you personally?
Connecting with different people around the world.
6. What's your advice for the climbers of all levels?
Just enjoy yourself! We climb to have fun!
