Prudence Morgan-Wood
8c climber from England
MEET PRU
I was born in England, I grew up in France and now I live in Spain! My first contact with climbing was my 7th birthday party in a climbing gym but I didn't fully dedicate myself to outdoor rock climbing until I finished university in 2017. Here I met David and have been climbing with him ever since.
When I'm not climbing I might do a bit of stretching or colouring books or just general exploring of the area where we're parked up. David and I live full time in our self converted van and over the summer we work at a campsite in Rodellar.
I think my biggest success is finding joy in climbing, I used to compete and when I started climbing on rock I put a lot of pressure on myself to climb well. Now I just enjoy being outside and sharing climbs with fellow psyched people!
SHOOT A QUESTION
- Warm up or warming up by climbing? I studied to be a physio so I'm always nervous of injury so I always warm up.
- Coffee or matcha? Neither! I like tea or hot chocolate.
- Climb in silence or with music? I prefer climbing with the sounds of nature.
- Pull ups or hanging? Neither!
- Favourite snack in the crags? Absolutely anything and everything as long as it is food haha.
- Lead or boulder? Lead.
- Alone or with group? A group is always more fun.
- Static or dyno? I'm fairly short so although I love static climbing I often have to be dynamic!
5 QUESTIONS FOR PRU
1. What's your biggest f**k up in your climbing life?
With David we once topped out on a multipitch in darkness with no idea how to get back down. Luckily some climbers who were behind us on the route knew the rappels and we all went down together. If not we would have had to sleep on the top and search for the way down the next day!
2. If you could pick anyone from the climbing history or the present climbers, who would you love to go climb with and why?
I have always been a massive Lynn Hill and Babsi Zangerl fan girl. I love their energy and they inspire me to believe that anything is possible!
3. What is your dream line?
I would love to try Esclatamasters, I've heard it has tiny crimps on the top section and that the start is full on kneebars and physical so I think it could be a really interesting route!
4. What's your favourite part of being in the Rafiki team?
I love seeing the little Rafiki logo all over the world and connecting with complete strangers over the clothes!
5. What's your advice for the climbers of all levels?
Don't take things too seriously, we climb to have fun !
